Short Story#1

I held on to him so tight. I was afraid if I let go, if the music stopped, the light faded….that we’d never see each other again.
But I knew….That the music would stop, the light would fade….and sooner or later I’d have to let go. So I let go and turned away quickly. He tried to call my name, but I was running away from him. Away from the chance of pain. I couldn’t take a chance.
So I did what any smart girl would do. I ran. I ran until one of my heels broke and my knees met the sidewalk.
